Sem 04 / Form and Space Studies
Building Systems
Milind Mahale
with Abhijit Ekbote, Rashmi Dabir and Samidha Shah
This course attempted to establish the relationship between building systems, resources, and the experience it produces
In this module, the site taken was the primary school, Abhinav Vidya Mandir Borivali East, which is located adjacent to the National Park. The module aimed to understand how resource consumption, conservation, and production can be facilitated through the architectural form of the project.
So, the method was to enter into the design process by understanding the project's resource consumption. This involves a certain amount of calculations to know how much recourse is consumed or conserved or should be produced by the building to sustain itself.
Resources here include Land, Water, Solar Energy, Wind, Landscape, Construction Materials, etc.
Each student took certain resources to study and developed their system to conserve or produce that particular resource through their design of primary school.
