The allied course 2023 was planned around recording city sounds and making machines which move in response to those sounds. Everybody started individually, editing their initial recordings and making sketches from the edited sounds. We listened to compositions by John Cage and Philip Glass and saw works by Alexander Calder and Jean Tinguely.

We started to combine the small machines that resulted from individual work. First in twos, then in larger groups. But as the time was short, combining all of them didn’t work out, and we made a performance with the machines moving in the rhythm of the sound combined and edited from the individual sounds.
